NHLBI Research Training Programs for Non-Independent
and Newly Independent Investigators
The goal of all these programs is to increase the numbers and
capabilities of scientists engaged in biomedical and behavioral
research and to offer scientists the opportunity to receive
full-time training in areas that reflect a national need. The
programs also provide non-independent and newly independent
investigators the opportunity to establish their research careers.
For these researchers, the NHLBI has six research training
programs:
The above awards provide both part-time and full-time support
for 2 to 5 years.
For non-independent and newly independent researchers, the
NHLBI offers three additional research training programs that
support individuals from underrepresented racial and ethnic
groups, individuals with disabilities, individuals from disadvantaged
backgrounds or individuals who have experienced an interruption
in their research careers.
